- AFFILIATED HBA MEMBERS: click the HBA MEMBERS START HERE button
(you may be eligible for discount pricing). After you enroll as an HBA Member, you can register for classes. - NOT A MEMBER: click the BUY NOW button. Select your class(es) from the Course Catalog, then add payment information.

How do I take a class?
- The system automatically generates a username for you. That user name places a dot between the first name and last name. When you log on use this format: Firstname.Lastname. Don’t forget the dot.

- You will need to disable your popup blocker and delete the cookies on your computer. To find out how to disable your pop up blocker and/or how to delete the cookies, click on one of the tutorials below for the internet browser you are using:

I bought the course but when I click on it to play, it won’t open.
- You may need to update your Flash Player. Some of the older versions do not play as well as the newer ones. Go here to download the most recent version of Flash Player: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
I can open the course but it doesn’t play well.
- Several things can cause this including internet connection speed, the version of flash that you are using and the age and capacity of your computer. If this happens, here are some suggested remedies:
- Shut down your computer and reopen with a new internet connection.
- Update you version of Flash Player
- Clear your browsing history and delete cookies
- Use a direct connection instead of a wireless connection
- Hit the “Pause” button and wait a few minutes for the video to download before hitting play.
- Users should ideally be using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer.
- For Internet Explorer 9 we recommend enabling 'web page compatibility mode' to avoid completion issues.
- For Internet Explorer 7 we recommend the installation of this Microsoft Patch http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282402 if users are experiencing stuttering videos in courses.
- Java Script should be enabled.
- Users display resolutions should be higher than 1024 x 768 If it is set any lower parts of the interface will not display correctly.
- Low network speeds can result in courses that stop and start or timeout. A connection with a download speed greater than 2 Mbit/s and an upload speed greater than 1 Mbit/s. should be used.
- Many issues can be resolved by a clearing your cache and cookies then restarting their browser and trying to log in to the system again. This will always resolve the ‘Error 308’ problem.

When do I need to have Continuing Education in order to renew my CCB license?
How many credits are required?
- 16 hours of continuing education during every two year license period.
- 8 hours of those must be in Core subject areas
- 8 hours are elective

What are the Core subject areas?
- 3 hours are in Building Exterior Shell Training (BEST)
- 2 hours are in Codes or Green Education: CCB must pre-approve both the provider and the course for in order to qualify as core credits.
- 3 hours in CCB Business Law and Practices: Only available through the CCB

Why a building exterior shell class?
- A legislative response to an increase in Construction Defect claims
- Most claims result from a failure of the building envelope
- Envelope failures lead to water intrusion
- Water + organic building materials lead to mold and mildew problems

Where do I find Core Classes?
- Online at Home Builders University: Educational website of OHBA
- OHBA Codes and Green classes available both online and in the classroom
- CCB Business Law Practices: CCB will be offering web-based courses, courses available on CD/DVD and limited live courses.

What qualifies as elective?
- All courses taught by your local HBA
- Lead based paint training
- Training demos by manufacturers
- Commercial continuing education
- Left over core hours
- Training for other construction license requirements
- Participation as an HBA officer (2 hours)

Who takes the training?
- Residentially endorsed contractors
- The owners, officers, members, employees or any combination
- Training stays with the company
- Residential Limited Contractors are only required to complete the core hours.
- Residential Developers are exempt from all CE requirements.

What if I have both Commercial and Residential licenses?
- All hours taken for the Residential License, including the Core Credits, will apply towards your Commercial license.
- All hours taken for the Commercial License will apply to the Residential License as elective credits.
